GAEDA is pleased to award a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Mid State Chapter of Magnolia Peace Officers Association in an amount not to exceed Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000) for meals and advertisement of the 2023 Magnolia Peace Officers Association Conference to be held June 14-18, 2023.

GAEDA is a driving force in helping to spur economic growth for the citizens of Alexandria, LA.

We work with government and private partners, as well as other stakeholders to develop projects and implement programs that enhance the overall quality of life for our residents. Our website will provide you with detailed information on GAEDA and it will provide you with helpful information on other useful resources.

Article VII, Section 14(C) of the Constitution of the State of Louisiana provides that “For a public purpose, the state and its political subdivision…may engage in cooperative endeavors with each other, with the United States or its agencies, or with any public or private association, corporation, or individual;” that being said the purpose of the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority (GAEDA) is to encourage and promote the economic development of the City of Alexandria, which includes all projects suitable to any industry determined by GAEDA to create economic development, including without limitation, projects to assist motels, hotels, conference facilities, places of entertainment, and any tourism related industry (La. Rev. Statute 33:2740.60).;

Grant Application

The purpose of GAEDA’s Grant Program is to (i) promote economic development through tourism activities and events (“Events”) within the corporate limits of the City of Alexandria, Louisiana that will increase hotel/motel occupancy; (ii) to enhance the image of Greater Alexandria and its communities; and (iii) to improve the quality of life by helping Events become established and self-supporting.
 
Events are eligible for funding through the Grant Program. Events should have a history of, or significant potential for, attracting out-of-parish visitors, either as participants or spectators, thereby generating hotel or motel room overnight occupancy. Events resulting in the occupancy of 100 or more hotel/motel rooms in Alexandria and generating national or state wide exposure for Alexandria will receive priority consideration.
